Answers for U4.8 – further organic

Posted by: intechemistry on: August 26, 2009

UPDATE: I’vejust head from Shanti. From what said it’s up to me when I want to give the test. I will give it on the FIRST class of the week. 9m2, 9m3, 9m8 on Tuesday in class hours. 9m10 wednesday.

Here you go. No password.

Ans to Further organic Qs  << doc format

Actually the organic worksheet is a little bit too simple. Please read each learning requirement point on the the syllabus (or ’specification’ as we are supposed to call it these days!  *rolls eyes* nothing is can be left untouched these days, everything has to be ‘repackaged’ *slaps self and stops moaning*).

Do the Q’s in your books and practive mechanisms.

For Zereda:

sir, do we need to know about grignard reagents? flipping through the past years’ questions, i found out that there were many questions regarding grignard reagents.

had it been omitted out from the silly-bus? any chance in may come out in the upcoming test?

thanks beforehand sir!!

Hi.

From the info given to me, the test will cover unit 4.8 and 4.4 only. You haven’t studied Grignards yet and we’ve not set them as self study exercise. So don’t worry, they won’t be on the test

sir, is it true that chem test will be held on the 9th of september, instead of sept 1st?

rumors are pointing to the former date so can you confirm this?

thankyou :)

rafii :)

As far as I’m concerned the test will be on Wed 2nd Sept. Unless something has changed that I’m not aware of.(??)

sir, is that mean that the Grignard mechanism will not be included in the test? The mechanism looks a lil bit complicated and haywire, it takes some time for me to understand ( well..maybe i’m a slow learner )

liyana 9M10 (and thank you for writing your group)

Grignard mechanism isn’t on the test, so dun worry. And actually, the mechanism isn’t tough. You just need it logical ‘talk through’. Selamat berbuka puasa :)

hey Sir, this is me again..

i was wondering whether question on unit 4.3 – how fast-rates will be included in our upcoming test. Based on the past year questions i’ve done so far on entropy, there are some questions on entropy that are related to unit 4.3

Hi.

U4.3 is not covered on this test. Only 4.8 and 4.4, but it is wise to be able to draw upon all previous chemical knowledge of units you have studied in the past.

“there are some questions on entropy that are related to unit 4.3
” – could you give me a couple of examples?

Thanks.

well.. one of the example is from chemistry (nuffield ) unit 4 January 2008..

question number 4 has both questions from unit 4.3 and entropy

i download this past year paper from free exam paper online

Nuffield has many similarities to the chemistry you do but also has differences. I’ve not really concerned myself with looking at Nuffield stuff before, hence my unfamiliarity with it.

Using other ‘boards’ etc is quite good (gives u a different perspective on the q’s) but it’s only a matter of time before material or unit content comes up which is different from ’standard’ (non-Nuffield) chemistry.

If you think you’ve spotted such a case, then refer back to your syllabus/specification.

So just leave those parts out.

owho..
thanx for the advice sir..
next time i’ll refer to the spec if i’ve spotted such case
:)

:)

Harlo, sir. If a reaction is feasible, G(free energy) should be less than 0 or less than and equal to zero?

dG has to be <0

Alrite, thx a lot sir XD
